Cheap VPS Hosting — less than $10 a month?

I need VPS hosting for a small c++ app I made. I NEED at least 5Gb of storage for all of my files and apt-get programs, but if it isn’t the Ubuntu OS, I will need at least 7GB — If possible, i’d like more..
At least 256MB RAM is needed, and a nice burst is always nice.
It requires root access to install certain software so plain web-hosting isn’t good enough (I have tried dreamhost already and got library errors when running it)
Does anyone know any VERY cheap ones??
I have been looking at SWVPS’s LVPS-1 package;
10GB disk space,
OpenVZ & HyperVM,
250GB bandwidth/traffic per month,
Instant self-reboots,
400Mb RAM (600Mb burstable),
2 free IPs,
Plesk 8 (1 domain) or WebMin control panel
Yearly price ($99.99) — As I say, it’s one small program I need, and I don’t want to pay for what I won’t use often.. I host it myself now but that needs to change
If you know any discount codes (not sure if yahoo let you post em, haven’t checked the T&Cs for a while), or any other CHEAP VPS hosting company, please let me know.
I look forward to your replies,
Ian
As I say, http://swvps.com is good for value, I just wanted to see if anyoneciuld beat it
A coupon code would be nice but no site on the Internet is willing to give them away
to be honest, I may be getting greedy with this: 23p a day with swvps for uk hosting is amazing… I’ll just go with them
When it comes to VPS, you get what you pay for. For the price you are looking for you will be lucky to get more than 64MB RAM. I’ve looked into VPS and VDS hosting and so far not seen anything I’m willing to pay for.
Math Problem, graphing systems of inequalities/linear programming?

Please just read it, I have done a majority of the work. I just need help on one thing.
And I put all this so someone can correct me if I’m wrong.. Please help.
A construction employs two levels of tile installers: craftsmen and apprentices. Craftsmen install 500 square feet of specialty tile, 100 square feet of plain tile, and 100 linear feet of trim in one day. An apprentice installs 100 square feet of specialty tile, 200 square feet of plain tile, and 100 linear feet of trim in one day. The firm has a one-day job that requires 2000 square feet of specialty tile, 1600 square feet of plain tile, and 1200 linear feet of trim in one day. The construction firm pays craftsmen $200 per day and pays apprentices $120 per day. How many craftsmen and apprentices should be assigned to this job so that it can be completed in one day with the minimum labor cost? What is the minimum labor cost?
Let x represent the number of craftsmen and let y represent the number of apprentices.
Write a system of 5 inequalities to represent the constraints.
Graph the feasible region and clearly label the four corner points.
Write an objective function for the labor costs.
I already have the five inequalities.
500x+100y≥2000 —> y≥-5x+20
100x+200y≥1600 —> y≥-1/2x+8
100x+100y≥1200 —> y≥-1/4x=12
x≥0
y≥0
The objective function.
And my graph, http://s158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/inot123/?action=view¤t=Graph_paper2.gif
(Sorry it didn’t upload good…)
I don’t know what the four corner points on the feasible region are. Help please.
mominsd- thank you. When I first did the equation I put 100x+100y and solved it from there. Thank so much.
Still kind of confused though.. :/
Thank you so so so so much. ![]()
Your 3rd inequality– 100x+100y≥1200 —> y≥-1/4x=12
100x + 100y ≥ 1200 is correct, but it simplies to:
y ≥ -x + 12
Hopefully that will help you find your corner points?
Edit:
Ok, I found this site: http://www.walterzorn.com/grapher/grapher_e.htm
In the section where you plug stuff in, copy and paste this:
-5x+20;
-.5x+8;
-x+12
And I set the x and y mins to -5, x and y max to 25
That will give you the graph.
Now, your feasible region.
(0,20) and (16,0) are the two obvious points.
(2,10) is where y≥-5x+20 and y ≥ -x + 12 intersect.
(8,4) is where y ≥ -x + 12 and y≥-1/2x+8 intersect.
So those are the corner points. Hope that helps!
Dish satellite receiver hookup through DSL (dry-loop)?

I am trying to connect my DishNetwork receivers to a phone line in order to save the $10 fee (5$ per receiver) they charge in the "programming access fee." The problem is, I don’t have a home phone set up. I have a dry-loop DSL line for internet access but the DishNetwork tech people don’t know if the receiver can be connected through a dry-loop. The other issue is that there is no phone jack behind the tv (the nearest jack is in the kitchen…and the DSL modem is installed upstairs). Is there a way to hook up the receiver to the dry-loop DSL line through a wireless router or some other adapter? If not, is there a way to connect the receivers through a standard phone line (assuming I install one) without paying $50 a piece for wireless phone jacks? I am new to this technology, please help.
has to be through a phone line, it has to detect an actual dial tone
how do i host my own website with windows xp?

i do not want to pay anyone to host my site for me. it’s expensive and they usually don’t give enough space. sites charge around 10 dollars a month and you only get like 5 gigs of storage.
my computer is always on and has almost a terabyte of storage. and i think i have unlimited transfer. hosting companies limit the amount of data transfer to and from your site per month. I want to avoid these limitations and costs.
I realize that I will still have to pay for a domain name but that is very cheap. i can afford the 8 dollars a year for that.
I’ve heard a lot about IIS but i cant seem to install it. when i go to add/remove programs and click add windows components, IIS nor application server isn’t showing up.
First of you need XP Pro to use IIS. Second, you need a static IP address which you probably do not have unless you have a T1 line and are paying over $100 a month for internet service. You would probably be better just paying the monthly fee for hosting when you add it all up.
As an alternative you can get free ad supported hosting when you register a domain and then you wouldn’t have to pay the monthly fee. http://www.dakotawebhosting.com provides the free hosting with domain registration.
Give me your opinion insights and summary or how you understand this..?

Reality check.
The philippines has good sound laws but corrupt political influences always delay the implementation of these laws.
By the time these laws are enforced, they become so obsolete that another law must be passed (just like the politicians who regularly pass gas – i.e. fart through their mouth).
Napster and Rhapsody USERS with iPod, please help!?

I have an iPod and I used to use Limewire but it made my computer crash so I don’t want to install it. I have never used iTunes because I don’t want to pay $1 per song (I download too many). I am looking into Rhapsody and Napster but are those compatible with the iPod? How do you get their songs on your iPod? Do you have to pay for the individual songs for your iPod or can you use your monthly subscription? And can you get your songs into iTunes? If possible, I would like to do this without downloading a converter. Does anybody know of any other music downloading programs that ask for a monthly fee and you can download unlimited music and is compatible with iTunes or the iPod? Every answer is greatly appreciated, thank you.
It’s not compatible with you’re iPod and it probably will never be. Download Limewire but check the option that doesn’t share your music, then it won’t slow down/crash your computer.
What do you think about this answer to crime?

Each criminal offender convicted of X crime will be given the option of prison or to use this program. Prison keeps offenders from offering anything to society, they are locked up with people who school them on how to commit more crime, they are subject to an environment which breeds more hate and crime, criminals often come out worse than ever, and the cost is tremendous as well as plenty of other issues.
My program gives an offender the option to remain on the outside of prison walls yet still be just as harmless to the public as if he were imprisoned. A shocking device will be attactched to the offender’s body. A transmitter is installed so that whenever the device is not 100% funtional, it will alert another device which will in turn alert authorities to the offender’s location where he can then be apprehended. A device is also implanted in the prisoners body which can be activated to release a drug to put him to sleep. This is mainly for when the shocking collar quits working or is tampered with in some way, so that authorities have plenty of time to track the offender down to fix the problem.
Every non offender is issued a device which alerts them when an offender is near. This device also can be used to activate the shocker if need be. Giving non offenders a definite defense against criminals.
In other words, all non offenders to X crimes will have the ability to render any offender to X crimes harmless upon command. Devices could also be installed in people’s homes that could prevent any offender from entering without getting shocked.
The cost will probably be much much less than it is now. Since the offenders will be free to work, we may be able to collect fines from the to pay for the program. It will surely be much cheaper than prison costs. It cost something like 30k per year to keep a prisoner last time I heard.
This basically accomplishes the same things as prison, but with less loss to society. They will still be free for the most part, they just won’t be free to commit crimes! This would seem to be a good plan to me.
I’m not sure that I can understand what’s cruel and unusual here. The offender has the choice to either go to prison or join the program. In prison, you are kept from fullfilling any dreams, you might get rape, you can’t go grab a pop out of the kitchen when you feel like it, you are devoid of freedom. This program is much more humane and kind.
As for people who abuse the shocker, the answer is simple, take it away from them. There is still a very high probability that even without his shocker, someone will be near who could active an offender’s shocker if the person without a shocker were nearby. I have every solution to any problem you want to present me.
I mentioned that the program will be used for X crimes. X stands for, I’m not sure what crimes should fall under this punishment. Besides, I have already stated that the offender should have the choice of either his conventional punishment or that of this program.
i’d vote for it ………….the present system does indeed have many flaws , as you have pointed out .
cheers ………..

It seems like everyone on the internet is trying to find the shortcuts and tricks for their marketing, income or brand-building goals. Is this the right attitude to have, or is it just short-term thinking.
On the one hand we have gurus like Gary Vaynerchuck telling us to get in the trenches and make it happen bit by bit.
On the other hand, guys like Tim Ferris say we should let technology take over as many tasks as possible.
Well the evidence is clear, people are definitely buying semi black hat products like Hummingbird, Bookmarking Demon, Tweetadder, Article Drip Robot and the likes by the thousands.
Is this a path to success or the road to disappointing failure? Hopefully this video will help you come to your own conclusions.
Enjoy,
