Although these VHF signals can be monitored from the Earth’s surface, their horizontal range is generally limited to about 75 km (46 mi), leaving large areas of the ocean unwatched. However, the signals easily reach the 400 km (250 mi) orbit of the ISS. The European Space Agency sees this experiment as a test platform for a future AIS-monitoring fleet of satellites that will eventually provide worldwide coverage of sea traffic.”

where to watch the space shuttle launch?
Hello,
We live in the Ocala fl area. I would like to take my seven year old daughter to watch the launch tomorrow. We cannot leave until 3:30pm at the earliest because of school and it will be an hour and a half drive to the space coast. Does any locals have any advice as to where to watch this launch? I was told Titusville is the closest to the launch pad, but Traffic leaving is horrible. All hotels and the Kennedy Space center are sold out. Would we be wasting our time driving to watch this? Help please.

Ive watched it from Jetty Park a few years ago. You can feel and hear the shuttle as it shoots up def different and unique watching it closer.
